I started Metropolitan Partners with my father. At the start, I ran it alongside a career in finance, and spent two decades in the corporate world.

But the more I built, the clearer it got that building was where I wanted to be. I found I had a passion for it and was good at it, and I wanted to control my own destiny and spend my days making decisions about work I actually cared about. So I left to build full time.

Thirty years on, the last twenty in the Park City area, it's still the work I'd choose again every time.

Coming up through finance first, I think about a build a little differently than most. I read a budget as closely as I read a set of plans, so I can see early where the money should go, where it gets quietly wasted, and what a choice will really cost before you commit to it.

What I think through hardest, though, is the part you'll never notice on a walkthrough: where every outlet goes, how a room is actually going to be used, where an HVAC vent sits so it isn't the first thing you see. I want those details as unobtrusive as possible. Think of the outlet dropped in the middle of the wall, right behind where the bed goes. I catch that before it happens, and I move it. Get enough of those small calls right and the house just feels calm and easy to live in, even when you couldn't say exactly why.

That's why I take on a select few projects at a time. It's what lets me stay on site, in the details, and in the decisions with you, from the first conversation to the final walkthrough, alongside the team I've built with for years.
